Task Force 7 has been around for hmmm 15 + years and was created as a reasonable equivalent to what bests fit a complement of a TF as opposed to a fleet. Also there is few command type ranks ie a TFCO, TFXO, a TFOps, TGCOs and COs. The COs run the sims as they see fit; so long as they’re nice and have respect for others. The level of control is mostly bottom up and command staff are simply admins like any other social media group.
The rules are generally simple, applicants can apply for a sim and they’ll be added to the TF until they quit simming or close the sim. Sims that are created to be with other simming groups are viewed as started off at TF7 and then reassigned. It’s a storyline thing; when the simming group are done with them, booted them or whatever; the sim defaults back to TF7 as an always permanent home.
When simmers are given command of a sim, there’s no command course or any intervention of some sort of storylined hierarchy unless invited. Things like promotion is done within the sim ie even though the sim vacancy advertises for a Captain or a commander. You can be a Fleet Admiral and run the sim; that doesn’t mean that they can go running to the Commodore StarFleetUKs email inbox and dictate that his first born goes and blows himself up…..lol. The Commodore is a Commodore in Chief or a Major General (depends on how I feel….it’s my server; you’re all my lovely guests; I help you create your novas, update nova, put up ranks, themes etc so be nice or you can do it all by yourself).
Scenario 1 – You apply for a sim or ask for one to be set up and sit in a fleet somewhere. The Sim CO has a hissy fit and falls out with fleet hierarchy and is subsequently thrown out of the fleet. StarFleetUKs view and for that matter TF7s view is such that if a Sim CO is relieved of command of a sim hosted by StarFleetUK but a fleet member. TF7 has grandfather rights to the sim and so will reside with TF7.
Scenario 2 – Sim CO is relieved of command and the fleet admins contact The Commodore to remove the sim. Request is automatically denied as the commodore does not adhere to any fleet bureaucracy. The StarFleetUK view which is the TF7 view is that if the simmer applied for hosting and hosting was supplied then the simmer is in charge and they can take it where ever they like. Leave a simming group and join another, come back to TF7 or close the sim. What usually happens is the simmer disappears and leaves the sim dead; therefore the sim website is cleaned up and open for recruiting.
Sims have a year expiry from creation, you’ll receive a notification and you contact The Commodore and it gets extended. Usually, when they go dead, The Commodore isn’t notified and so is harvested for re-crewing or deletion.
All in all, this simming group is like a warehouse of sims, apply/create, take it where you want, give it back when you’re done.
This is Task Force 7 and I am The Commodore in Chief StarFleetUK.
